The bank's core system ran a six-hour end-of-day. Every service that depended on it — statements, disputes, treasury reporting — waited for the ETL. The ask was to hit one hour without touching the core.

The reshape

  • Turned the nightly ETL into a change-data-capture stream feeding an incremental reconciliation service
  • Kept the core untouched — every write still lands where it always did
  • Added a compensating checkpoint the treasury team could use to reproduce any daily view
